In accordance with Section IV of the AMU Charter, the Grand Duchy of Flandrensis has been granted AMU Membership and admitted as the ninth member of the Antarctic Micronational Union following the unanimous vote of the existing members.
The Grand Duchy of Flandrensis co-founded the AMU in 2008 alongside several now-defunct micronations. It remained a member until 2016 when it withdrew from the organization following a debate about internal affairs. In 2020, Flandrensis participated in consultations about reviving the organization and contributed to drafting the new AMU Charter, but opted out of rejoining the union at the time.
The Grand Duchy of Flandrensis lays claim to Siple Island, Carney Island, Maher Island, Pranke Island, and Cherry Island. It is the fourth micronation to be accepted as a member since the organization resumed activity in 2020. It will be represented in the AMU by Grand Duke Nicholas.
